A while back I reached out to my friends on social media to see what kinds of fun things they would like to receive as freebies for subscribing to my email list. I had everything from audiobook samples to a flash-sale download of Shadowed By Moonlight, but to my surprise the classic eBook short story collection is what won the day.
So, combing through the archives, I pulled out two of my award-winning stories from Wattpad and threw in sample chapters from Shadowed By Moonlight and Cut From a Tattered Cloth. I felt like these four stories combined gave an accurate portrayal of my writing strengths and topics that I’m drawn to as an author.Â
What's Inside:
Imbolc and the ‘Ie: Winner of the 2022 Wattpad Spring Charms contest, the challenge was to write a story about an Imbolc celebration gone wrong. For my entry I wrote about a Samoan girl and her roommate who were invited to an Imbolc celebration that ended up offending both Celtic and Samoan gods alike.
In Papa’s Chair: Winner of the 2021 Wattpad Aim to Engage contest. This one was tricky because we had to write about time travel in 500 words or less. I was inspired by my last days with my papa when he had terminal cancer while writing this story, and think it’s one of the more challenging pieces I’ve had to write.
Shadowed By Moonlight: If you’ve been wanting to check out what all the fuss is about, but can’t quite bring yourself to download the Kindle sample on Amazon then today is your lucky day! Check out the first chapter of Shadowed By Moonlight along with a few behind the scenes details in the Author Notes.
Cut From A Tattered Cloth: One of my current writing projects, and most likely to be the next book that I publish. This book follows the story of Eijiro Tokuda, a jaded alcoholic who gets interrupted on his most recent attempt to skip out on mortality by a desperate fourteen-year-old. Now stuffed into the role of mentor and father figure for a girl that adores him, Eijiro must help his apprentice to master her powers without succumbing to his own inner demons.
Each short story/sample chapter has an Author Notes section after where I share little-known facts like story inspiration, character design, or how a particular story came to be. If you’d like to download your free copy, then be sure to sign up for the email list and check it out today. 🙂
